HPD officer pleads not guilty to federal charge

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu police officer Glenn Miram pleaded not guilty today to a federal charge of conspiring to protect a Waialua cockfight and gambling operation in 2004 and 2005.

Miram is the first to be arraigned among four officers and a former officer charged in three separate federal grand jury indictments issued last week.

Federal Magistrate Judge Leslie Kobayashi scheduled Miram's trial for June 6.

Miram, a seven-year police veteran, was assigned to the narcotics and vice detail.

He was allowed to remain free on a $25,000 unsecured bond.

The other officers and former officer will be arraigned later this month.
