Police Beat: Foster parents arrested in beatings case

A pair of foster parents from Wai'anae were arrested yesterday after police investigated the couple's alleged beating of five foster children over a period of more than two years, police said.

Three boys, ages 15, 14, and eight, and two girls, ages 11 and 13, were taken into protective custody by the state, police said. Police did not disclose information tied to the investigation.

The foster parents, a 29-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of two counts of second-degree assault, one count of first-degree child endangerment, seven counts of abusing a household member, and two counts of second-degree child endangerment.

The investigation is open and ongoing, police said.

Waikiki man arrested after alleged scissors threat

A 60-year-old Waikiki man was arrested last night after he allegedly threatened to kill another man in front of the International Marketplace.

At 10:45 p.m. the 60-year-old confronted a 31-year-old man on Kalakaua Avenue in front of the marketplace, police said. The 60-year-old brandished a pair of scissors and threatened to kill the 31-year-old, police said.

The 31-year-old called police and officers arrested the older man on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.

Teen allegedly threatened school counselor's life

A 15-year-old student at an alternative learning center in Kalihi was arrested yesterday after he threatened to kill a school counselor.

At 10:45 a.m. yesterday the 26-year-old school counselor tried to physically remove the 15-year-old from a classroom where he was poised to fight another student.

The teen resisted and threatened to kill the counselor. School officials called police and officers arrested the boy on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
