UH pounds Nevada in baseball

Steven Wright pitched seven strong innings and Luis Avila drove in four runs to lead Hawai'i over Nevada, 13-4, Friday night in Western Athletic Conference baseball at Peccole Park in Reno, Nev.

Wright (6-2) gave up a run and seven hits with no walks and eight strikeouts. Freshman Jayson Kramer pitched the final two innings, giving up three runs for the Rainbows (26-11 overall, 4-5 WAC).

Avila hit a three-run home run in the first inning off Tim Schoeninger (3-3) to pace UH's 15-hit attack against the Wolf Pack (15-17, 5-5).

The series continues at 10 a.m., Hawai'i time Saturday.
