Juniors at AJGA

Christina Kim of the Big Island shot 6-over-par 77 and was tied for 13th place in the girls' division after the first round of the Heather Farr Classic at Mesa, Ariz.

Her sister Kimberly and Hono-lulu's Stephanie Kono were tied for 16th with opening 78s in the American Junior Golf Association tournament at the Longbow Golf Club.

Esther Choe of Scottsdale, Ariz., fired a 4-under 67 for a two-shot lead over two players.

In the boys' division, Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa shot a 4-over 75 and was tied for 42nd place.

Phillip Francis of Scottsdale, Ariz., shot a 6-under 65 for a four-stroke lead over six players in the boys' division.

UH MEN FINISH EIGHTH

The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished in eighth place with a three-day total of 6-under-par 858 at the Ping Cougar Classic yesterday at Provo, Utah.

BYU won the tournament with a 828. Barry Schenk of Weber State was the medalist at 201.
