Man on bus died of natural causes

Advertiser Staff

An elderly Waipahu man who died Thursday after he fell out of his seat on a city bus and hit his head on the floor was killed by existing medical conditions unrelated to the fall, the city Department of the Medical Examiner has determined.

An autopsy yesterday morning revealed that Ralph Arthur Martin, 79, was suffering from "ischemic heart disease due to artherosclerosis" according to the Medical Examiner's office.

Other factors that may have contributed to his death included hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and diabetes, according to the autopsy results.

The manner of death in Martin's case was determined to be natural.
