Failure to wear a seatbelt led to the arrest this morning of a 28-year-old man on suspicion of car theft.A patrol officer pulled up to a car at the corner of Ala Moana Boulevard and Kalakaua Avenue just after 2 a.m. and noticed the driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
The officer checked with police dispatchers and learned a 46-year-old woman had reported the car was stolen from her. The officer then arrested the driver for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
During a search of the driver incidental to his arrest, police reported finding drugs and drug paraphernalia and arrested the man on suspicion of drug offenses as well.
