Kauai fire investigated

Advertiser Staff

An off-duty firefighter, a neighbor and a police officer responded with water hoses to a 10:30 a.m. fire in a plywood storage shed today at Eggerking Road in Wailua Houselots on Kaua'i. They were able to partially extinguish the fire, according to a fire official.

One man in the area said he heard an explosion from the shed before the fire. The shed reportedly contained flammable materials.

Kapa'a and Lihu'e firefighters were dispatched and had the fire under control within minutes of arriving on the scene.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
