At least four women were killed and eight more people are in serious or critical condition following a two-car crash this morning on Kunia Road near Anonui Street by the WalMart Store in the Royal Kunia Shopping Center.

The accident happened at about 7:35 a.m. when a red pickup truck carrying at least 10 passengers in the back swerved into a cement truck traveling north, police at the scene said.

Police said the truck, traveling south, had swerved to avoid a speeding silver car that was trying to overtake traffic on the two-lane road.

The silver car fled the scene, police said.

Nine of the passengers in the bed of the truck were thrown from the truck, including all four women who were killed, police said.

All four women killed were in their 40s and 50s, according to police.

Of the other eight injured, one is critical condition, five are in serious condition and two are stable, police said. Five of the injured are female, three are male. They were all taken to the At Queens Medical Center.

The cement truck driver, a man in his 30s, was not injured.

Police are searching for the silver car that was trying to pass the traffic. It was last seen going onto Schofield Barracks.

Police are asking for anyone with knowledge of who the driver is and the accident to call them at 529-3115.
