Aila to run for governor

Advertiser Staff

William Aila, longtime Wai'anae harbor master, has announced he will run for governor as a Democrat.

Aila, a well-known Hawaiian activist who has served as spokesman of Hui Malama and has been involved in the fight to save Makua Valley, made his announcement in front of the state Capitol today.

Aila focused on affordable housing, promoting development that will meet community needs, protecting Hawai'i's host culture, improving environmental stewardship and making government more responsive to its people.
