The road was reopened at 2:15 p.m., nearly six hours after a red pickup truck carrying at least 10 passengers collided head-on with a cement truck, killing four women who were thrown from the truckbed and sending eight others to the hospital in serious, critical and stable condition.

The driver of the cement truck was uninjured. Police said the red truck had swerved into the cement truck to avoid a car that was speeding down the wrong side of the road trying to pass traffic on the two-lane road.
