Former University of Hawai'i running back Michael Brewster has signed a one-year contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

Brewster, who is 5 feet 6 and 185 pounds, completed his NCAA eligibility at the end of the 2004 season. That year, he led the Warriors with 722 rushing yards.

Brewster said he will report to training camp on May 14. He said he will be used as a running back and slotback.

"I'm glad I can keep playing," he said. "I just like football."

Brewster served the past year as a member of the Warriors' video crew. He recently earned a bachelor's degree.
