ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
California choir sings by candlelight

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Sacred music by candlelight from the University of Redlands Chapel Singers can be heard beginning tonight, from 6.30 to 7.30 p.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Waikiki. The concert's centerpiece is the Office of Compline, from the Benedictine monastic prayer cycle. "This exquisite music is a rare treat in a fast-paced world," said choral director Jeffrey Rickard. The program also includes popular and classical choral works and the music of Kailua resident Matt Glickstein, a senior composition major at the University of Redlands. More concerts: 7.30 p.m. tomorrow at St. John Apostle and Evangelist Church in Mililani; noon Friday at Chaminade University's Freitas Hall; and 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Waialua's St. Michael's Church. Free. 261-9361.
