Senior volleyball player Kari Shimomura was named Menlo College's Female Athlete of the Year at the school's awards ceremony in Atherton, Calif., on April 19.

Shimomura, a 2002 McKinley graduate and the only four-time all-conference volleyball player in Menlo history, led the Oaks in assists (5.48 per game), and was second in digs (3.42) and third in kills (1.76).

Women's basketball guard Shannon Riley, a 2002 Maryknoll graduate and the only four-year captain in program history, garnered the Don W. Baer Award for showcasing all-around leadership. Riley is also Menlo's student government association president.

During her senior year, Riley was named to the All-California Pacific Conference Team. She was a President's Scholarship recipient.
