Suspects arrested for stealing two cars

Police arrested a 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman in Kahala late yesterday afternoon who they suspect were driving two different stolen vehicles.

Police said a witness called 911 after seeing the woman driving a truck with out-of-state license plates followed by a man driving a van, also with out-of-state plates.

The witness told police the man and woman were possible suspects in a burglary in Kahala that took place earlier in the week.

Police were sent to the area and confirmed that the truck and the van had been reported stolen.

They arrested the two suspects about 5:20 p.m. on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Felony charges are pending against a 53-year-old woman who allegedly became unruly on a city bus about 3:45 p.m. yesterday.

Police were told that the bus was traveling through the Punahou area when the woman began swearing at other passengers on the bus. The bus driver, 48, told police she was shoved when she asked the woman to leave the bus.

Police were called to the area and arrested the bus rider on suspicion of interfering with the operator of a public transit vehicle.

Stolen moped recovered, man arrested

A 27-year-old Wahiawa man was arrested yesterday morning in Waikiki after police reported finding him with a moped stolen from a Waikiki moped rental business.

Police said a video surveillance system at the rental firm showed the moped, worth an estimated $1,500, being stolen at about 5:50 a.m.

The man was spotted later in the day, still in Waikiki, with the missing moped and was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Niece arrested for stealing aunt's car

A 15-year-old girl was arrested yesterday as a suspect in a car theft case reported in Maili by her aunt.

Police said the aunt called police about 7 a.m. Sunday to report the car had been stolen from her home on Pelanaki Street. The car was recovered later a few miles down the coast in Nanakuli.

Police said the girl's aunt, 30, later discovered her niece had taken the car without permission. The niece was located yesterday and was arrested on suspicion of unlawful control of a propelled vehicle. The girl was also being held as a suspected runaway, police said.
