Racquetball tournament begins today

 •  Organized walks bring friendships, exercise

The Reef Development Spring Shootout Racquetball Tournament is scheduled today to Sunday at the Honolulu Club.

About 90 matches with 60 players from Hawai'i, including nationally ranked Jimmy Lowe in the men's open, are scheduled to participate.

Divisions (open and novice) are men's singles, men's doubles, women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Entries closed last week.

SPEARFISHING

EXPO, PARTY ON MAY 7

A spearfishing expo is set for May 7 at the Ala Moana Hotel's Hibiscus Room. The event, sponsored by Hawaii Skin Diver magazine, is from 9 a.m to 4 p.m.

More than 20 booths, featuring a variety of spearfishing-related companies, are expected to display new products and offer advice. Admission is $5.

A fundraiser party follows the expo at Rumours nightclub. A donation of $10 will help send Hawai'i divers to the nationals in Florida and the world championships in Portugal.

FUNDRAISER

MALL WALKS FOR ARTHRITIS

Three walks are scheduled on O'ahu for next month to benefit the Arthritis Foundation.

The 1-mile mall walks are at Pearlridge Center Uptown on May 6, Windward City Shopping Center on May 7 and Aloha Tower Market Place on May 13. Registration for each walk is at 7:30 a.m. and begins at 8:30 a.m.

The walks will raise money to support Camp Mana'olana (Camp Hope) a juvenile arthritis residential camp.

There is no registration fee to participate in the walks, but those raising $100 or more receive an Arthritis Walk T-shirt.
