Hawaii tops Sacramento State in baseball

Hawai'i moved into a tie for first place in the Western Athletic Conference with a 5-2 win against Sacramento State to clinch the Western Athletic Conference series Saturday night before 3,411 at Les Murakami Stadium.

With New Mexico State's 5-4 win against Louisiana Tech, the Rainbows (31-12 overall, 9-6 WAC) share first place with Fresno State (9-6), which swept a non-conference doubleheader against Dallas Baptist yesterday. Louisiana Tech dropped to 9-7.

Justin Costi (6-1) went seven innings, allowing two runs, four hits and a walk with six strikeouts for UH. Tyler Davis pitched two scoreless innings for his second save.

Derek DuPree drove in three runs for UH, two on a second-inning double that broke a 1-all game.

Mitch Lively (0-4) was charged with five runs (four earned), seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 5· innings for the Hornets (20-26, 8-9).
