Quite a lineup of chefs will appear at the annual Made in Hawaii Festival, Aug. 18-20 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall and Arena — and there always are free samples.

The schedule: Aug. 18 — 2 p.m. Derek Kurisu of Hilo's KTA Super Stores; 4 p.m. Almar Arcano of Formaggio; 6 p.m. Andy Nelson of Neptune's Garden, Pacific Beach Hotel. Aug. 19 — noon, Fred DeAngelo, Ola at Turtle Bay Resort; 2 p.m. Michael Imada, Hyatt Regency Waikiki; 4 p.m. Elmer Guzman, Poke Stop; 6 p.m., Mike Irish, Halm's Enterprises. Aug. 20 - noon, Grant Sato, Culinary Institute of the Pacific, Kapi'olani Community College; 2 p.m. Eldon Ricardo, Tiki's Grill & Bar.

SHANGHAI BISTRO'S CULINARY ADVENTURES CONTINUE

Chef Chih-Chieh Chang of Shanghai Bistro will give another one of his popular series of cooking classes this month. Set for 10 a.m. Aug. 19, the class will cover the making of two of the restaurant's most popular items: Butterfly Shrimp and Taiwan-style Pancakes.

Shanghai Bistro is at Discovery Bay, 1778 Ala Moana. Validated parking is available at the Discovery Bay garage (enter from rear of building). Cost for the class is $35, and pre-registration is required. Call 955-8668.
