Oregon senior center Enoka Lucas was selected as his team's student-athlete representative for the Pac-10 Conference's annual football media day last week.

Lucas is a 2002 Kamehameha graduate.

"We feel confident heading into the season. We have all five returning starters on the offensive line," Lucas said at the press conference. "We've been enjoying Eugene and are looking forward to the season."

  • Punahou graduate Sophie Merrifield will play soccer for Yale, according to the school's Web site.

Merrifield was an Interscholastic League of Honolulu first-team selection as a forward, but the versatile athlete can play defense and midfield as well.

  • Iolani graduate Ryan Oda signed with the Seattle University track and field team, according to the school's Web site. Oda specialized in discus, with a personal best of 141 feet, according to the release.

"Ryan really wants to compete for this school and has sent many e-mails updating us on his progress," Seattle assistant coach Matt Franck said in the release. "His drive and willingness to put in the work will benefit not only him, but the rest of our program as he is someone others can look up to."

  • Kailua All-State third baseman Shyenne Hussey signed with Eastern Kentucky University, a Division I school, according to her father, Shad Hussey

  • Kalani graduate Meghan Koizumi signed with the University of Alaska-Anchorage, joining two other Hawai'i players for the upcoming season, according to the school's Web site.

Koizumi, a 5-foot-7 setter, was a first-team O'ahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division first team selection.

"We are elated to add Meghan to our team," coach Michelle Earl said in the release. "She is a strong all-around player who will not only train as a setter, but plays amazing defense. Her experience and talent as a hitter will also give us some much needed versatility."

Koizumi joins setter Tehane Kahalehau (Kamehameha) and junior middle blocker Paepaetele Poasa (Farrington), who transferred from Taft (Calif.).
