SAVE ENERGY

YOU CAN KEEP COOL AND STILL CONSERVE

As energy costs rise, finding ways to reduce use is becoming an obsession nationwide. The Alliance to Save Energy offers tips at www.ase.org.

Among the suggestions: Cooling puts the greatest stress on the Island power grid and summer energy bills. Maintain air-conditioning equipment with a professional tune-up to save you the cost and inconvenience of a breakdown, and clean or replace filters monthly. Consider increasing the temperature by just three degrees to reduce your energy bills, or use a fan to circulate air so that you can increase the temperature comfortably. For optimum performance, make sure window units are sized properly.

FINAL WORD

"I'm 41, and it's work being me. It's a lot of upkeep. I'm pro-cosmetic procedure. I use Botox, and I'm not afraid to say it."
