Traffic around Camp Smith may slow today

Several roads and highways have ongoing construction that is expected to slow traffic. Commuters should allow a little extra time to get to their destinations.

Work near Camp Smith

Lanes may be closed along Halawa Heights Road near Camp Smith today between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for road work. Lanes may be closed along Halawa Heights Road between Ulune Street and Fernridge Place, in the vicinity of Camp Smith, through tomorrow between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for pavement marking and sign installation.

Work in vicinity of 'Aiea Access Road, Moanalua Road, Kam Highway

The right south-bound lane along 'Aiea Access Road from Moanalua Road to Kamehameha Highway will be closed today between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for barrier and electrical work. Possible shoulder lane closures may occur along the southeast on-ramp (eastbound) from Kamehameha Highway to the Moanalua Freeway. The right lane in both directions along Moanalua Freeway, between the 'Aiea Access Road overpass and McGrew Point, will be closed today between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for roadwork. And lanes may be closed along Kamehameha Highway in both directions between McGrew Point and Salt Lake Boulevard today between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for guardrail work.

Pu'uloa Road work scheduled

Both shoulder lanes along Pu'uloa Road from Kamehameha Highway to Salt Lake Boulevard will be closed today between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for utility work.

Also, one lane will be closed in both directions along Pu'uloa Road between Kamehameha Highway and Salt Lake Boulevard today between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for utility work.

Night work on H-3

Lanes will be closed in the Kane'ohe-bound direction along the H-3 Freeway between the Halekou Interchange and the H-3 tunnels today between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m., for pavement repair.

Kunia Road work scheduled

Northbound lanes may be closed along Kunia Road between the H-1 Freeway and Wilikina Drive today between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for pavement striping.

Makaha Bridge partially reopened for small vehicles

The Makaha Bridge No. 3 along Farrington Highway near Kili Drive will be closed to vehicles over 12,000 pounds at least through next week as crews make repairs to the bridge damaged from last week's fire. Further inspections showed that while the bridge is structurally sound, additional repairs are needed. A detour has been set up for motorists through Makaha Valley Road, then onto Kili Drive, and back onto Farrington Highway.

Farrington westbound lanes to close

There will be westbound lane closures along Farrington Highway today between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.:

    • between Kahuali'i and Paiwa streets for shoulder lane and drainage work.

    • between Ma'ili Point and Wai'anae Mall for manhole cover adjustments.

Night work on Nimitz

There will be a complete closure in the Honolulu-bound direction along Nimitz Highway at the Kalihi Stream Bridge until 4 a.m. today for bridge repair. During the closure, traffic off the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct eastbound will be diverted to the Middle Street/Dillingham Boulevard Exit (Exit 18B). Traffic along Nimitz Highway under the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct will also be diverted to Dillingham Boulevard. A special duty officer will direct traffic. All westbound lanes along Nimitz Highway will remain open.  

Pali guardrail, pavement work scheduled

Single lane closures along Pali Highway in the Honolulu-bound direction between Castle Medical Center and School Street are set today between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for guardrail and pavement repairs, weather permitting.

Lanes to close near Crouching Lion

Lane closures are scheduled along Kamehameha Highway between Waiahole Valley Road and Crouching Lion Inn today for roadwork. During this time, one lane of traffic in either direction will be closed and contra-flowed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
