1899: The Waialua Hotel opens to the public. It was built by B.F. Dillingham and was along Dillingham's Oahu Railway and Land train route.
1904: The Pacific Commercial Advertiser reports that wealthy residents with summer homes on Waikiki Beach who have built seawalls along the front of their property may have to remove them or set them back. The territory had determined that by law it is entitled to a right of way along the beach all around the island.
1906: Kaua'i's Wainiha electric plant goes into operation, harnessing water from the mountains to generate electricity.
1909: The Higher Wage Association votes to end the strike of sugar plantation workers.
1928: Clarence "Buster" Crabbe of the Outrigger Canoe Club qualifies for the finals in the 1,800-meter freestyle swimming race at the Amsterdam Olympics.
