1890: A number of bondholders take advantage of the first choice of lots in Pearl City, the Pacific Commercial Advertiser reports.
1909: The Pacific Commercial Advertiser reports that plans and specifications for the new Methodist Episcopal Church building at Beretania and Victoria are rapidly nearing completion.
1909: Work begins to put the first telephone wires in the downtown district underground.

1946: The Advertiser reports the Kaimuki Business and Professional Association is drawing up plans for a solution to the "parking bugaboo" in that district. The lack of parking was rapidly becoming a major problem, the paper reported.
1953: A new $9 million housing development in Niu is announced. Kiawe brush was being cleared, The Advertiser reported, and 754 homes were planned.
