Giants fans can score at UH Pigskin Pigout

Advertiser Staff

A two-night hotel stay, two tickets to see a San Francisco Giants home game and an inning in the radio broadcast booth are among the items that will be up for auction at the 11th annual Murphy's Warrior Pigskin Pigout.

This year's event will be Aug. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Murphy's Bar & Grill downtown. Tickets are $100.

In addition to the Giants package, there will be nearly 200 items available in silent and live auctions. Some of the other items include restaurant gift certificates, sports memorabilia and vacations.

The event's proceeds will go to the Na Koa Football Club as part of its annual fund-raising efforts.

Don Murphy, the owner of Murphy's, is hoping to reach the $1 million mark at this year's event.

"The first year we held the Pigout we raised $37,000 for the team," Murphy said. "We've exceeded $100,000 for the last several auctions and that million-dollar mark is well within our sights."

The goal is to raise funds for the training table and other football-related expenses.

Tickets are available at Murphy's Bar & Grill by calling 531-0422 or by calling Don Murphy at 754-1502.
