MGM plans 3 residential high-rises

By Anthony Curtis

MGM Mirage wants to build three residential high-rise towers, one near Luxor and two others behind the MGM Grand. The 2,500 units are in addition to the 1,650 condos planned for Project CityCenter at center Strip. MGM Mirage owns 831 acres on the Strip, many of which are vacant or underdeveloped.

RECORD PRIZE: When the smoke cleared, 8,773 players put up the $10,000 entry fee to play the 2006 World Series of Poker main event. The result will be a $12 million prize for the winner. The tournament ends Thursday.

CHIMPLESS: Mikey the Monkey, the poker-playing chimp, was not allowed to play in the World Series of Poker championship. While there appears to be no rules barring chimpanzees, rumor has it that competitors must be at least 21 years old.

Q.What are the operating hours of the half-price ticket booths on the Strip?

A. Tix4Tonight hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily to buy same-day tickets, in person. The booths are on the Strip at the Hawaiian Marketplace near the Aladdin, in the parking lot across from the Stardust, and in the Fashion Show Mall. A fourth booth is inside the Four Queens downtown.
