Maui police warn of donations scam

Advertiser Staff

The Maui Police Department wants people to know that someone has been improperly soliciting donations to benefit officer training and education — and should report any such calls to them.

Maui Police Department rules prohibit solicitations, according to acting Lt. Jamie Becraft.

"Should anyone solicited on behalf of the Maui Police Department, they should treat it as a scam," Becraft said. "Try to get a return phone number and the name of the solicitor."

To report solicitations, call 244-6392.
