Brush fire at Schofield coming under control

Federal firefighters had a 15-acre brush fire 95 percent contained this afternoon on the East Range of Schofield Barracks, just across from Wheeler Army Air Field.The fire was reported at 12:40 p.m. and was 95 percent contained as of 3:40 p.m., said Army spokesman Troy Griffin. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
The federal firefighters and the Honolulu Fire Department's Air 1 helicopter were aided by light and variable winds.
There were no reports of damage to people, property or endangered species, Griffin said.
