Makaha Bridge No. 3 closed through Friday for repairs

Advertiser Staff

Motorists who use Farrington Highway in Makaha should expect longer commute times and are urged to use caution because of painting and repair work that began this morning at Makaha Bridge No. 3 along Farrington Highway near Kili Drive.

State Department of Transportation officials plan to close the bridge in both directions from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today through Friday, forcing traffic to detour through Makaha Valley Road, onto Kili Drive and back onto Farrington Highway.

Two-way traffic is supposed to resume each day after 3:30 p.m. Pedestrians can still use the bridges during the repair work.

Drivers are encouraged to be careful while taking the detour, which runs through a residential area.
