Trade winds bring some heat relief

A high pressure system north of the islands will continue to provide moderate to fresh trade winds that will help cool things off a bit.

The trades are expected to hang around at least through th middle of next week.

The winds will bring a bit of moisture along with them, with occasional showers expected primarily in the windward and mauka areas.

An area of low clouds had reached the Big Island and parts of Maui this morning and the windward sections of both islands should see gentle showers, forecasters said.

The low clouds are expected to move to the west throughout the day with other islands seeing light showers later this morning.

Here are the day-to-day forecasts:

Today, partly cloudy in the morning then becoming mostly sunny. Isolated showers. Highs 81 to 88. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 66 to 77. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Friday, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Highs 81 to 89. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Friday night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 67 to 78. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Saturday, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Highs 82 to 89. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Saturday night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 66 to 76. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Sunday, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Highs 81 to 89. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
