Hilton to run Wyland Waikiki

Hilton Hotels Corp. has announced an agreement to manage the Wyland Waikiki hotel, which is scheduled to open later this summer.

The hotel, formerly the Ohana Waikiki Surf, is being renovated with a motif inspired by marine life artist Wyland. The 404-room hotel will feature ocean and reef color schemes and patterns, as well as Wyland artwork.

Hilton signed a multi-year management agreement with the hotel's owners, WB-LCP Kuhio Owner LLC, an affiliate of Lodging Capital Partners LLC and Westbrook Partners.


HAWAIIANS URGED TO FILL OUT SURVEY

The Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce is urging Native Hawaiian business owners and entrepreneurs to fill out a survey aimed at identifying barriers they face in the business world.

The chamber began distributing the surveys in April and would like to start compiling the results.

U.S. TRADE DEFICIT SLIGHTLY BETTER

WASHINGTON — America's trade deficit showed a slight improvement as strong global growth pushed U.S. exports to a record level. That helped offset a surge in Chinese imports and record crude oil prices. The deficit declined 0.3 percent in June, compared with May, dropping to $64.8 billion.
