Police Beat: Girlfriend held captive

A 30-year-old Waipahu man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly held his girlfriend captive for three hours and assaulted her.

Police were told the couple got into an argument, that the boyfriend assaulted the girlfriend, 22, and refused to let her leave their home from 3:30-6:30 p.m.

Police were told that at one point, the boyfriend threatened to harm the woman and damaged her personal property.

Officers were sent to their home on Awaiki Street and arrested the boyfriend on suspicion of kidnapping, first-degree terroristic threatening, criminal property damage and abuse of a family or household member.

Man arrested in assault

A 26-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon following an argument with his 22-year-old girlfriend at Sunset Beach.

The woman told police her boyfriend slapped her several times and threatened to kill her.

Police went to the beach, located the boyfriend and arrested him on suspicion of kidnapping, first-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree assault.

Bad driving leads to arrest

Police arrest a 25-year-old man yesterday morning discovering the car he was driving had been reported stolen.

Patrol officers reported seeing the man speeding and making unsafe lane changes and ordered the driver to pull over in the downtown area.

The officers checked with dispatch, found the car had been reported stolen and arrested the driver about 7 a.m. on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
