KAILUA BEACH DEBRIS — The East O'ahu Lifeguard Association needs help for a cleanup 3-5 p.m. Saturday at Kailua Beach, with a prize drawing to follow. Bags, gloves and water provided. Contact Suzanne Frazer at 393-2168 or Shannon Clancy at 382-8258.

ROAD TO HANA CLEANUP — Three dates have been set for the 38-mile Road to Hana Cleanup, with volunteers to pick up trash, trim brush and do other work. First phase is Saturday from Honomanu to Nahiku, second phase is Sept. 23 from Kaupakalua Road to Kaumahina State Wayside Park, and third is Oct. 21 from Upper Nahiku to Hana town. HAWAIIAN PLANT SALE — Maui Nui Botanical Gardens will sell native and Polynesian-introduced ground covers, shrubs and trees 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 26 at 150 Kanaloa Ave., Kahului.

MAKIKI WAI HELPERS — The state Department of Land and Natural Resources and the Hawai'i Nature Center are looking for help 9 a.m.2 p.m. Aug. 26 to make trail improvements and do other work along the Makiki trail. WAIMEA VALLEY DOCENTS — The Waimea Valley Audubon Center is training volunteers to work as teaching docents alongside field educators in school programs. Must commit to 8:30 a.m.-noon one day a week, September to December. 638-9199, ext. 210.

WEED & POT CLUB — Maui Nui Botanical Garden's Weed & Pot Club meets 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at 150 Kanaloa Ave. in Kahului to work on nursery plants and perform other work. Tools, gloves and drinking water provided; bring sunscreen, wear shoes.

KANAHA POND — Join Native Hawaiian Plant Society volunteers at Kanaha Pond Wildlife Sanctuary 7:30-11 a.m. Thursdays for weeding and brush cutting; work also done at Maui Ocean Land Trust wetlands. (808) 572-6338.
