Woman sentenced in knife attack

A 42-year-old woman whose criminal history includes stabbing her husband to death in 2000 was sentenced this morning to a prison term of 6 2/3 to 20 years in prison for stabbing her boyfriend last year.

Sabrina Fiaai was sentenced in 2001 to a maximum 20-year prison term for manslaughter for the death of her husband, Abe Fiaai, but was on parole when she stabbed her boyfriend, who suffered a nick to his arm and a wound to the side of his abdomen.

City Deputy Prosecutor Rom Trader said the stabbing was the result of a combination of violence and crystal methamphetamine that both Fiaai and the boyfriend had been using.

He said the boyfriend does not know why he was stabbed other than it may have been a result of the effects of drugs.

Fiaai pleaded guilty to attempted manslaughter and entered a plea agreement calling for her sentence of 6 2/3 to 20 years in prison.

Circuit Judge Dexter Del Rosario approved the agreement and issued the sentence.
