Hilo loses first game in Ripken World Series

Bryant, Ark., scored two runs in the first inning and held on for a 2-0 victory over Hilo, handing the Hawai'i team its first loss in the Cal Ripken World Series at Aberdeen, Md.

Hilo (3-1), which leads the National Division, does not play Thursday. Bryant and Kennewick, Wash., are 2-1. The top two teams after Thursday advance to Friday's semifinals. Hilo beat Kennewick earlier, 2-0.

Arkansas scored its two runs in the first on a wild pitch and a passed ball.

Hilo's Kawika Pruett struck out 10 and allowed three hits.

Arkansas' Blake Davidson struck out eight and allowing just four hits.
