Advertiser Staff

Pearl City's Little League Juniors defeated South Bend, Ind., 5-1, Thursday and will advance to the United States Championship game Friday in the World Series for 13- and 14-year-olds in Taylor, Mich.

Pearl City finished 3-1 in its pool. Two other teams — El Campo (Texas) and North Cumberland (New Jersey) — are 2-1 and play each other later Thursday.

Pearl City will play the winner of the Texas-New Jersey game.

The winner of the U.S. championship will play the International champion for the World Series title Saturday.

Right-hander Kahana Neal pitched a complete-game, seven-inning four-hitter. Keanu Sato drove in two runs to lead Pearl City.
