School safety

Advertiser Staff

With the new school year getting under way, it's a good time to review safety rules with your youngster. For those who ride bikes to school:

  • Always wear a bicycle helmet, even if it's for a short ride.

  • Ride on the right, in the same direction as traffic.

  • Use appropriate hand signals.

  • Respect traffic lights and stop signs.

  • Wear bright-colored clothing to increase visibility.

  • Know the "rules of the road." www.aap.org/family/bicycle.htm.
