Police Beat: Man punches officers

Police yesterday arrested a 21-year-old man who punched two officers in the head outside a Honolulu nightclub and a 19-year-old man who tried to prevent his arrest.

About 3:10 a.m., a bouncer told the 21-year-old man to leave the club for shadow-boxing and challenging other customers to fight. But he refused to leave, police said.

When officers tried to arrest him, he allegedly punched one officer in the face and ran off, police said. They caught the man and wrestled him to the ground when he punched a second officer in the head, police said.

During the arrest, the 19-year-old man jumped onto the other man to prevent police from arresting him, police said. They told him to stop and pulled him off the other man several times, police reported. At the same time, at least five other unidentified people were trying to prevent the arrest, police said.

Police arrested the 21-year-old on suspicion of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting an officer.

The 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, police reported.

Girl reports sexual assault

Police are investigating a third-degree sexual assault case involving a 39-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl.

The Mililani girl told police yesterday that a family member sexually assaulted her from January 2000 to June 2006.

Man arrested after foot chase

A 22-year-old man was arrested yesterday in Wahiawa after allegedly trying to flee on foot when police spotted him driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Patrol officers saw the man driving the vehicle and confirmed it was stolen vehicle about 10:30 a.m., police said.

The man realized he was being followed and ran from the vehicle, police said. Officers located the man, identified him, and arrested him on suspicion of car theft.
