Advertiser Staff

Kane'ohe's Dean Wilson birdied the 18th hole to finish with a second-round 2-under-par 70 Friday and was eight strokes behind the leaders in the 88th PGA Championship at Medinah Country Club in Illinois.

Wilson was at even-par 144, which was the cut for the final two rounds. The low 70 scores and ties advanced. Henrik Stenson (68), Billy Andrade (69), Luke Donald (68) and Tim Herron (67) were tied for the lead at 136. Tiger Woods (68), Davis Love III (69) and Geoff Ogilvy (68) were one stroke back.

Wilson, who shot 74 in the first round, finished the second round with six birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey (on the first hole). He made the turn at 1 over, but got to 2 under birdies on the 11th, 12th and 14th holes. But he went back to 1 under with a bogey on the par-4 16th. He birdied the par-4 18th hole to go 2 under for the round and even-par for the tournament.

Wilson, 36, a Castle High School alum, is coming off his first PGA Tour victory last week at the International.
