Mililani man charged in sex assault

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu police have charged a Mililani man with first- and third-degree sexual assault against a female juvenile, HPD Sgt. Kim Capllonch, coordinator of the CrimeStoppers program, said at a police briefing today.

Charged was Anthony Rogers, 23, police said.

The assault against a juvenile female happened earlier this month, and Rogers was arrested last Wednesday, police said. Rogers was charged with the crime yesterday.

Capllonch said Rogers' bail has been set at $50,000.

Rogers, who is known to residents around the Mililani Shopping Center area where the assault took place, was identified by the victim, Capllonch said.

She said Rogers has four prior arrests, although none of those were for felonies.

She said she did not know if Rogers is a suspect in an earlier sexual assault that occurred in the same area. But she said police would be stepping up patrols in the area.
