Police seeking two robbery suspects

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu Police are searching for two suspects involved in separate American Savings Bank robberies yesterday afternoon, said HPD Sgt. Kim Capllonch, coordinator of the CrimeStoppers program.

In the first incident the Kapahulu branch of the American Savings Bank, located at 737 Kapahulu Ave., was robbed at gunpoint around 1:13 p.m. by a white man in his mid-20s with blond hair, dark eyes, fair complexion, about 5-foot-10-inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds, she said. The suspect was wearing black baseball cap with red lettering, a blue denim button-down long sleeve shirt, and cargo shorts.

After presenting a demand note at gunpoint, the suspect fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money.

The second bank robbery happened at around 1:50 p.m. at the Kailua American Saving Bank at 200 Hamakua Drive. In that incident the suspect also entered the bank, presented a demand note, and then fled with an undetermined amount of money.

In that robbery, police are looking for a Hawaiian man in his late 40s or early 50s who is about 5-foot-7-inches tall, about 180 pounds, medium build, black/brown wavy hair, unshaven and wearing a dark T-shirt, Capllonch said.

She said police are investigating to see if there is any connection between that robbery and one several days ago at a First Hawaiian Bank in Kailua.
