Pearl City loses in World Series title game

Venezuela rallied for a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to defeat Pearl City, 4-2, in the Little League World Series championship for 14- to 16-year-olds in Bangor, Maine.

It was the second year in a row in which Pearl City finished as runner-up in the World Series Senior Division. Last year, Pearl City lost in the championship to Urbandale, Iowa, 7-2.

Venezuela and Pearl City both entered the title game unbeaten in the tournament with 5-0 records. In fact, it was Pearl City's first loss in playoff competition this year. It went unbeaten through the state and regional tournaments.
