  • From "Hawaii Five-O" to the current production of "Lost," Hawai'i has proven itself an attractive location for the film industry. Now, the state's Act 88 adds new tax incentives to the allure for Hollywood producers. On Aug. 29, state Film Commissioner Donne Dawson will outline "Behind the Scenes of Act 88: Taking Hawai'i's Film Industry to New Heights," in an address to the HAWAII SOCIETY OF CORPORATE PLANNERS. Dawson heads the Hawai'i Film Office, part of the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, serving as a liaison between productions and various state agencies, facilitating permitting, even use of state lands for filming.   • The state Procurement Office has scheduled a series of presentations on its Electronic (online) Procurement system, which brings online notification of needed state goods and services to those local companies that would be qualified to provide them.
