Wai'anae soldier killed in Iraq

Staff Sgt. Jeffrey S. Loa, 32, of Wai'anae, died Wednesday in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol, the Department of Defense announced this morning.Loa was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 35th Armored Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division out of Baumholder, Germany.
