Advertiser Staff

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Kane'ohe yesterday after he allegedly pointed a gun at another man during a traffic altercation about 6:10 p.m.

The man who filed the complaint, also 24, contacted police dispatchers via cell phone and followed the other man's car, police said.

Police stopped the other car on Waikalua Road and arrested the driver on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.

Police said a handgun was not recovered at the scene and that the man who was arrested refused to allow police to search his car.

The car was seized as evidence, police said.

Suspect arrested after hurling meat cleaver at man

Police arrested a 19-year-old man in Kalihi early yesterday morning after he allegedly threw a meat cleaver at an 18-year-old man.

The younger man told police the other man and his friends were drinking and creating a disturbance about 12:15 a.m. and that he asked the man to go home.

The man who filed the complaint with police said the older man left as asked, but returned about five minutes later with a large meat cleaver and began to chase him.

He told police he was able to grab a baseball bat as he was fleeing, at which point the man threw a cleaver at him from about 15 feet away but missed.

The man who threw the cleaver then ran away but was located nearby and arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, police said.

Man arrested for allegedly threatening neighbor

A 42-year-old Mililani Mauka man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly threatened a 24-year-old woman neighbor twice in a three-day period after she told police on Friday that the man was driving recklessly through the neighborhood.

The woman told police the man first threatened her on Friday, the same day she complained to police that he was driving recklessly.

The woman told police she looked out of the window on Sunday and saw the neighbor threatening her again.

Police arrested the man yesterday on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
