1895: The steamer W.G. Hall has been outfitted with electric lights, the Pacific Commercial Advertiser reports, adding that it should add to the popularity of the interisland vessel.
1944: The Honolulu Board of Supervisors unanimously recommends to military authorities that the 10 p.m. curfew be lifted.
1960: Nine-thousand people jam the Waikiki Shell to hear the New York Philharmonic present its first concert in Hawai'i. Leonard Bernstein conducted the orchestra.
1999: Two 21-year-old Danish tourists who had been missing for eight days are rescued in the rugged Ko'olau mountains in Kahana Valley State Park.
