Police Beat: Woman alleges assault after karaoke party

A 22-year-old Kalihi man was arrested this morning after a neighbor accused him of attempting to sexually assault her.

The neighbor, 39, told police she went to the man's home yesterday to join in a karaoke and drinking party. She said she consumed a moderate amount of alcohol, passed out and awakened this morning to find her neighbor trying to assault her.

Police said the woman was able to break free and call for help.

Officers were sent to a home on Bannister Street and arrested the suspect on suspicion of attempted first-degree sexual assault.

Alleged death threat leads to 33-year-old's arrest

A 33-year-old Punchbowl-area man was arrested early this morning after a 26-year-old man who lives in the same apartment on Spencer Street told police the older man threatened to kill him.

The man who filed the complaint said the older man pointed a kitchen knife at him during an argument and threatened to kill him.

The younger man told police he was able to knock the knife out of the other man's hand, but was bitten on his left ring finger when he tried to shove the alleged attacker out of the apartment door.

Police arrived and arrested the suspect on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and abuse of a family or household member.

Alert neighbor thwarts attempted car theft

Three Wai'anae Coast men were arrested early yesterday morning while allegedly trying to steal a car in Salt Lake.

Police said a Salt Lake man was standing on the balcony of his apartment about 1:05 a.m. when he heard the sound of a window being broken.

The man told police he looked down to the street below and saw one man entering a parked car and two other men standing along side the car.

Police said the witness called 911 to report the incident and then left his apartment and went outside to confront the three men.

Police said the witness kept the three men occupied until officers arrived at the seen.

The witness said he heard two of the men warn the third man that they had been seen breaking into the car and the men started to walk away moments before the officers arrived, police said.

The officers caught up with the trio — ages 27, 31 and 32 — and arrested them on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.

Store employee arrested for stealing air compressor

A 33-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with Aug. 13 incident at a store in Kapolei.

Police said other employees of the store saw a fellow employee taking an air compressor out the store and asked him about it.

The store employee told the others that he was taking the compressor to a customer in the parking lot, police said.

They said the employer determined the compressor, valued at $499, had not been paid for, and reported the incident.

The suspect was arrested yesterday on suspicion of second-degree theft.

Teen arrested for assaulting 49-year-old man

A 17-year-old boy was arrested yesterday in connection with a July 29 incident that left a 49-year-old man unconscious and seriously injured.

The boy was arguing with the man at about 1:12 a.m. when he punched him once in the face causing the man to fall to the ground unconscious, police said.

They said the boy was located yesterday about 8:45 p.m. and arrested for first-degree assault.
