Tourists on Kaua'i killed after car collides with gas truck

Advertiser Staff

Two adult tourists were killed and two boys traveling with them were injured this morning when their rental car collided with a gasoline tanker truck between Kekaha and Waimea along Kaua'i's Kaumuali'i Highway, Kaua'i police said.

Police have not released the names, ages or cities of the victims but said they were visitors. The two boys were described as being close in age and approximately 8 years old, said Lt. Ale Quibilan, acting commander for the department's patrol services.

The accident occurred about 10:30 a.m. when the rental car apparently veered into the path of the tanker truck, Quibilan said. There was no fire or explosion from the collision, he said.
