Police Beat: One arrested after alleged gang fight

Advertiser Staff

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault yesterday following what police described as a mutually agreed upon fight between rival gang members at about 4:30 p.m. in Kaimuki.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to The Queen's Medical Center for treatment of injuries he received in the brawl. He was treated and released, police said.

The boy who was arrested was identified by witnesses as one of the participants in the fight.

He was later released without charges pending further investigation into the matter.

Alleged repeat forgery offender arrested at bank

Police arrested a 36-year-old Kane'ohe woman yesterday after she allegedly tried to cash a forged postal money order at a Honolulu bank.

Police said the woman previously cashed seven money orders at the bank that were later found to be fraudulent.

When she went to the same bank yesterday to cash what would have been the eighth money order, bank workers notified police who arrested the woman on suspicion of eight counts of first-degree forgery.

Suspects don't get far with stolen purse

Quick-acting patrol officers arrested two men on Kane'ohe Bay Drive yesterday, minutes after a 42-year-old woman told police one of the men took her purse from the counter top at a Kailua business and jumped into a car driven by the second man.

Police located the car containing the two men, ages 42 and 40, and arrested them both on suspicion of second-degree theft.
