UH cornerback Jones finally cleared to practice

Cornerback Keenan Jones today was cleared to practice with the Universiy of Hawaii football team, UH spokeswoman Lois Manin announced.

Jones, who played last season at Compton Junior College in California, had been waiting for the NCAA and UH to approve his junior-college transcripts.

Jones earned an associate degree more than two weeks ago and arrived in Honolulu Aug. 12. But he was not allowed to practice or attend team meetings while his case was under review.

Manin said Jones must go through the five-day NCAA waiting period before he becomes eligible to play in any games.

Jones did not attend practice today because he was not notified in time about the decision.
