On Aug. 27, 1922, The Advertiser reported on the upcoming opening of the new Hawaii Theater.

1862: Prince Albert, son of King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma, dies at age 4.

1891: John Owen Dominis, husband of Queen Lili'uokalani and prince consort, dies at Washington Place. He was 60.

1999: Franklin Pauline Jr. is convicted of raping, kidnapping and murdering Dana Ireland, bringing to a close one piece of a notorious case that had haunted Hawai'i for nearly eight years. The reading of the verdict was broadcast live by by four Honolulu television stations.
