Muggy weather should give way soon

A low-pressure system that has been keeping the weather on the icky-sticky side for the past several days is due to depart sometime today and be replaced with somewhat drier, more breezy weather, according to the National Weather Service.

An that, in turn, should increased the comfort zone substantially.

We're not quite out of the mugginess latitudes yet: That low pressure system to the northwest of the state could set off locally heavy rain showers this afternoon, forecasters cautioned.

But the trade winds should blow back into town starting tomorrow, according to the forecast. Here's a more detailed look at the next several days:

Today, mostly sunny in the morning, then partly cloudy with isolated showers in the afternoon. Highs 79 to 88. Light winds becoming east around 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 67 to 77. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday, partly cloudy with isolated showers in the morning, then mostly sunny in the afternoon. Highs 81 to 89. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 66 to 76. Northeast

winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Wednesday, partly cloudy. Isolated showers in the morning. Highs 81 to 89.

East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
